
How to Apply for the Akwa Ibom State Students Bursary
To apply for the Akwa Ibom State Students Bursary, you must submit an application online via the official Akwa Ibom State Bursary Portal.
The scheme, enhanced under His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., awards ₦50,000 for standard courses and more for professional courses (such as Medicine, Law, Engineering, etc.) to qualified indigenes in public tertiary institutions.
Note: The portal will be officially lunch on the 20th July, 2026
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, ensure you meet the following baseline conditions:
- Indigeneship: You must be an authentic indigene of Akwa Ibom State.
- Institution Type: You must be a full-time student at a recognized public tertiary institution.
- Account Match: Your commercial bank account name must exactly match the name on your school records.

Scan and prepare clear, legible digital copies of these items before launching the portal:
- National Identification Number (NIN)
- Valid Student ID Card
- Official Institutional Admission Letter
- Certificate of Local Government (State) of Origin
- Current School Fee Receipt (Remita RRR or AkwaRemit ARN format)
- Recent Passport Photograph
- Student Registration or Matriculation Number

Create an Account: Click Here to visit the Akwa Ibom State Bursary Portal Registration Page. Input your active email address, phone number, and your NIN to set up your profile.
- Verify Identity: Complete the digital verification step. Check your email inbox or spam folder for a confirmation link to activate your profile.
- Fill the Application: Log in and enter your personal details, specific local government area (LGA), and banking details
- Upload Credentials: Upload your scanned documents (ID card, admission letter, local government certificate, and payment receipt) into their respective fields.
- Cross-Check and Submit: Verify that all typed information is error-free before hitting submit, as mistakes can trigger automated fraud filters
Post-Submission Verification
Once submitted, the state’s automated system cross-checks your NIN and details against your institution’s databases. Your school fee receipt is also checked directly through Remita or AkwaRemit. You will receive status notifications via SMS and email. Once verified successfully, payments are wired straight to your provided bank account.
